Memorial Biography

Kevin Gerald Furtado passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2021 with his wife, brother and best friend by his side after being diagnosed with Dementia and Parkinson's Disease 5 years ago. He was the son of William and Yvette, the brother of Bob, the wife of Christine, the dad of Andrea, Nicole and C.J. and the pop pop of Ethan and Colby. In typical Kev style, he didn't want a fuss and just kept on keeping on. If you knew Kev, you loved him and he had made you belly laugh numerous times! He was the life of the party, the Funmeister, the "I know a guy" guy and the one everyone gravitated to because his energy was contagious. You never felt unwelcome or out of place around him because he always made sure you felt like family. He was the first to offer you a drink, a cigar and anything else he thought you might need. He was also the first to roast the bejesus out of you and somehow it made you feel like the luckiest person in the room to get the spotlight. We learned a lot from my dad, like 3 people can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead, lol, but also that family is everything. He also showed us how to create friendships that make that family endless. There was nothing he wouldn't do for the ones he loved and would move mountains if necessary. He was a son, husband, father, brother, pop pop, uncle, godfather, cousin and best friend. He was a force to be reckoned with and the hole he has left is immense. What is the definition of a life well lived? Well, for my dad it meant to work hard and love your family. It meant to love BIG and laugh often. To open your heart and home to any and all. And to leave every single person better than you found them. We will be having a Celebration of Life on Saturday June 26, 2021 from 1-6pm at 227 Purchase St. Swansea, MA 02777 All are welcome. Come share memories and laughs and raise a glass to Kev. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to donate to Meeting Street; www.meetingstreet.org or the organization you hold close to your heart.
